Yvonne Tally – Breaking Up with Busy
The Greek Philosopher Socrates wrote, “Beware the barrenness of a busy life.” Considering this was written in the rather less than hectic period around 425 BC, the busy life of today must be totally barren! The word barren, usually applied to land, means unproductive, unfruitful and a place of stunted growth. Is this a true description of your busy life, especially if you are a woman? Are you one of the estimated 55 million women in today’s world who juggle your career, family and relationship, leaving you feeling like that barren land?
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Yvonne Tally, knows that feeling well. As a successful career woman, it was Yvonne’s own struggles with life balance that landed her in the ER and ultimately fueled her curiosity to develop methods and techniques to live a more sane and balanced life.
Yvonne Tally has been a healthy lifestyle coach for nearly twenty years. She is a co-founder of Poised Inc., which, among many other things, offers Pilates training to cancer survivors through the Stanford University Cancer Center, and the founder of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Scarves, a charity that provides headscarves to cancer patients. She is the Meditation and De-Stressing Specialist for the city of Palo Alto, California. Her website is YvonneTally.com and she joins me this week to discuss her new book, Breaking Up with Busy — Real-Life Solutions for Overscheduled Women.

How Soon Is Now?: The Handbook for Global Change with Daniel Pinchbeck
Join us this “Wisdom Wednesday” as we welcome special guest philosopher, radical thinker and author Daniel Pinchbeck to discuss his new book, ‘How Soon Is Now?: The Handbook for Global Change.’
SHOW TOPIC: How Soon Is now? The Handbook For Global Change…
“A blueprint for the future” — Russell Brand
“For anyone interested in considering how we got into this mess and how we can get out of it, How Soon is Now? will not disappoint… Pinchbeck is an important thinker of our time, and his is a brave and necessary book.” – Dr Jason Hickel, LSE Review of Books
For the last few years the world has been on the brink of an ecological mega-crisis, and our actions over the next few years will determine the global landscapes for years to come. In the last few months alone we’ve seen incredible movements arising all around the world which have been borne out of the catastrophic catalysts around us- environmental actions, Me Too, Never Again, and more. This is exactly what author, philosopher, and radical thinker Daniel Pinchbeck has been predicting; that our crucial crises now are actually an opportunity for conscious communal change.
ABOUT THE GUEST:
Drawing on a huge range of resources and references, from economics to Eastern philosophies and religions, Pinchbeck presents a compelling argument for the need for change on a global basis. How Soon is Now? is a manifesto and a tactical plan of action. It proposes a new narrative for a unified social movement. Through global cooperation, we can face this collective threat- ecologically, socially, politically, culturally, and spiritually- in order to not just survive, but thrive and expand into a new consciousness.

From Scared to Sacred – How We “Shift” Our Karma Into Higher Gear An Interview with Stephen Dinan, Author and CEO of Shift Network
“The only way to overgrow the ‘deep state’ is by cultivating a deeper state.” — Swami Beyondananda
Once again on this week’s Wiki Politiki, we look to shift our focus from the fear and anger generated by Donald Trump (and those who oppose him) to creating a movement that gathers all good intentions under “one big intent” — a world that works for all.
Bucky Fuller called this “the World Game” and it sure beats the alternative, the “end-of-the-world game.” Indeed, our nation and our entire species is going through an existential crisis — where we choose if we want to continue to exist, or follow our reptile brain down the path of the dinosaur. (Just think … millions of years from now, whoever is around could be running their vehicles on OUR blood!)
However, if we want to be driving our own cars, and our own karma, we need to restore the missing piece — actually, the missing peace — at the center of our society, a sense of “the sacred”.
This week’s guest, Stephen Dinan, is the author of Sacred America, Sacred World: Fulfilling Our Mission in Service to All, where he suggests that a miraculous spontaneous remission for our species is possible, provided we undertake a “spontaneous re-missioning,” as we shift our mission from “everyone in it for themselves” to “we’re all in it together”, or as Swami would say, “from the rule of gold to the Golden Rule.”
Stephen Dinan is also President and CEO of The Shift Network, an educational platform that delivers virtual summits, courses, and trainings featuring over 1,000 thought leaders in domains as diverse as spirituality, peace, holistic health, psychology, parenting, enlightened business, shamanism, indigenous wisdom, and sustainability. The Shift Network has served over 1.5 million people worldwide, with customers in 170 countries.
Dinan is a graduate of Stanford University (Human Biology) and the California Institute of Integral Studies (East-West Psychology). He helped create and directed the Esalen Institute’s Center for Theory & Research, a think tank for leading scholars, researchers, and teachers to explore human potential frontiers. As the former director of membership and marketing at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, he was the driving force behind the Shift in Action program and the One Minute Shift media series.

The Planets This Week: August 6, 2018
The cosmic headline of the week is the intense Solar Eclipse in Leo! We also have love planet Venus moving into Libra and unpredictable Uranus turning retrograde in Taurus.
The third Solar Eclipse of 2018 happens on August 11th with the Sun at nearly 19 degrees Leo. Leo calls us to fulfill our heart’s desires and fully express who we are as individuals, without shame and without a second thought. We are to celebrate what makes us all special. The eclipse creates a sense of urgency to do this, though little with Leo feels urgent — more like dramatic.
Also, this week, love planet Venus moves into Libra where it will be until September 9th. Under the influence of Venus in Libra your social life could be in full swing. Gracious manners come naturally to you now, and your charms are irresistible.
If you’re single, you may long to be in partnership, and might even compromise your ideals, preferring to be coupled up than to be alone. You’re also more likely to see the good in everyone, so you’re less critical of potential mates. If you’re in a relationship, this can be a sweet time for rekindling the romance and bringing out the best in each other.
Uranus in Taurus will turn retrograde on Tuesday and will shake up our ideas of money, property, and values, possibly transforming these things, whether we want it or not. Uranus is the planet of unpredictability and will be in Taurus for the next seven years. What make it more intense right now is that it is forming a tense square to angry Mars which is currently retrograde!
Tune in on Monday 6pm PT/9pm ET to find out more…
