Randy Kritkausky – Without Reservation

In 1940, Thomas Wolfe’s novel, You Can’t Go Home Again, was published posthumously. The fictional story line addresses the issue of our roots and whether we may return to them, physically and spiritually, and what we will find when we do. If we had the means of travelling back and reconnecting with generations past, what would we learn? How would their lives and their connection to the world they lived in, including their relationship with each other, nature and spirituality, afford us an opportunity for reflection and renewal? Can we truly go home again?

My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Randy Kritkausky, lived this experience. He journeyed into the realm of his ancestral Native American connections and intimate encounters with Mother Earth and says we all have the ability to spiritually reconnect with our ancestors and nature. Randy Kritkausky is an enrolled tribal member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. He is a founder of ECOLOGIA, an international environmental organization that works on the planet’s more extreme challenges, and formerly professor at Keystone College, research scholar at Middlebury College, and Erasmus Mundus Scholar at the Central European University in Budapest and Lund University in Sweden. He lives in Vermont. Lower Ego Power and Difficulty Forming Close Relationships with Family and Friends

This week on “It’s Your Ego—Stupid!”, Dr. Nick we’ll be looking intensely into the mirror of forming close relationships with family and friends and how lower ego power can get in the way of this happening. This energy, for those entrapped in it, undermines their ability to use important tools needed to build close relationships, such as healthy two-way communication in which they can assert themselves, insisting on compromise that meets their needs, expressing their need for compassion and understanding, and willingness to participate in the building of close relationships with their own creative input and contributions. As adults they frequently live in roles such as Dependent, Martyr, Victim, or Conformist.

During the show, I’ll be looking at symptoms which can reveal the presence of lower ego power and reflections of ego stupidity that occur when this person is having difficulty forming close relationships with family and friends. This show will also look at specific insights needed to transform lower ego power into a healthier and more balanced place, with the use of ego medicine, and the impact of lower ego power on one’s spiritual wellness.

A Journey to a Parallel Universe

Interview with Author and Journalist Mark Crispin Miller

On this week’s show, we are going to take a journey to a parallel universe – a reality just as real as this one, maybe even more real, where people believe that wearing masks DOESN’T make most people safer during the COVID crisis. It’s a reality where thousands of Europeans have taken to the streets to protest lockdown, where a huge crowd listened to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. speak out against mandatory vaccinations in the same spot where his Uncle John F. Kennedy spoke in Berlin nearly sixty years ago. It’s a reality where the people who showed up are not right-wing neo-Nazis as the New York Times proclaimed, but ordinary citizens from across the political spectrum alarmed by what they see as totalitarianism.

Our guide is journalist Mark Crispin Miller, who set out on a journey some fifteen years ago to delve into the truth about America’s “electile dysfunction”, and found himself at odds with his own “progressive” tribe. The further he has gone into exploring what others have termed “conspiracy theories”, the more he has discovered “con’s piracy facts” – discomforting truths that indicate that those with too much money and too much power – conman pirates — have already decided what our future will be like, and this future may not be to our liking.

In these apocalyptic – and in many ways apoplectic – times when the veils are being lifted on all sorts of things we would prefer not to look at, Mark has had the courage to speak up where others are silent. I may not agree with everything he says, and I don’t expect you to either. And … beyond the polarizing and incomplete narratives on both sides, Mark is going to give you a chance to look at a bigger picture.

Mark Crispin Miller earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in 1971, and his doctorate in English from Johns Hopkins University in 1977. He is currently a Professor of Media, Culture and Communication at New York University. He is the author of several books, including, The Bush Dyslexicon: Observations on a National Disorder, Cruel and Unusual: Bush/Cheney’s New World Order and Fooled Again: The Real Case for Electoral Reform (2007).

Miller is the editor of Forbidden Bookshelf, an e-book series that revives important works now out of print, most of which were variously killed at birth. He also wrote the introduction to the 2004 edition of Edward Bernays’ book Propaganda. He is also editor of News From the Underground.
