Michael Schauch – A Story of Karma: Finding Love and Truth in the Lost Valley of the Himalaya

In 1963 when I was ten, I read James Hilton’s classic, Lost Horizon. The following year, I found W. Somerset Maugham’s The Razor’s Edge. I was fascinated by these two fictional tails of western men who found awakening, purpose and a deep sense of peace during journeys to the mountains of Northern India and Tibet. I always mused about this type of journey but my path led elsewhere. It was not my “karma.” Are there those who actually followed a calling that seemed to have one purpose but completely changed their lives?

My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Michael Schauch, had just this experience and found that synchronicity and destiny may lead us to Karma. Michael Schauch is a mountaineer, entrepreneur and storyteller who lives to explore remote places around the world and to share the depth and beauty of human connection he discovers along the way. With early success as an entrepreneur at age 15, and more than 20 years of global financial investment experience, he brings his business acumen and altruistic heart to lead and support local and international mentorship, fundraising and educational initiatives. These include the education of girls and student mentorship in Nepal, outdoor youth leadership for those facing barriers to access nature and holistic Indigenous leadership development in British Columbia. Lower Ego Power and Difficulty Dealing with Significant Life Changes

This week on “It’s Your Ego—Stupid!”, Dr. Nick will be looking intensely into the mirror of our ability to manage significant life changes that we are called upon to deal with. These include developmental changes involving our health, growth and development. Situational changes involving work, relationships, and finances. Also, societal and technological changes taking place in an ever changing world we are called on to deal with. During the show I’ll be looking at symptoms, reflections of ego stupidity, and the impact on spiritual wellness which occurs when one is caught up in lower ego power energy. I’ll also be looking at specific ego insights needed to transform lower ego power into a healthier and more balanced place.

Unfortunately, for those with lower ego power, there is a weakened sense of being able to manage the changes taking place in their life. Their sense of disempowerment leads them to feel helpless in the face of change. Even though there are options available to them. They often feel paralyzed in the face of change and look to others to manage or confront them for them. Change is something that just happens to them and they often respond to it with passive acceptance rather than with assertiveness and working with it. Ego stupidity is often manifested in the non-reality based and truth disconnected ways they think, feel, and behave when significant change in particular, is taking place in their life. They aren’t managing change, change is managing them. Roles they may find their way into living, until they awaken, include the Depressive, the Dependent, and the Masochist.

He climbed this 47 times in 18 hours, meaning the he ascended and decended over 67,000 stairs. He also just happens to be a Certified Financial Planner, Registered Retirement Consultant, and Chartered Insurance Professional. Dan also has a Business Degree specializing in Marketing
