Kingdom of Miracles

Excuse me, oh hi there., I’m hoping you can help me with directions, as my compass seems to be broken.

If I could only find my True North again, I know I could turn myself around.

You see I got lost and separated from my True Self when that giant pain storm ripped through and caused such devastation. It left me wounded and my compass needle misaligned. I’ve been going around in emotional circles, unable to move forward.

I seem to be stuck in the wrong kingdom. I think I’m in the Kingdom of Broken and Lost, and I’m looking for the Kingdom of Miracles!

I’ve been travelling for some time now. Along the way I’ve asked how to realign my needle and find my True North. And I’ve received a few helpful messages.

I’ve been told that a willingness to shift my perception will help me to read my compass more clearly. The word “mother” suggests images of comfort, home, safety, caring and, of course, motherly love. Coming after a trying and difficult year, many of us long for that special loving energy. Some of us have lost our mothers while the physical separation mandated by the pandemic has resulted in being distant from some moms. There are many who experience connection with a “divine mother” as a source of inspiration, comfort, and ultimate motherly love. Is there a way of bringing that energy, goddess energy, into our lives as a complement to our existing faiths and belief systems?

My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Reverend Laurie Sue Brockway, had that very experience more than two decades ago with the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi. Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway has written extensively on women’s spirituality, self-esteem, emotional health, relationships, and weddings. The foundation of her ministry is to celebrate all traditions and to include all aspects of the Divine. For more than 20 years, Rev. Laurie Sue has presided over a multicultural wedding ministry based in New York and is widely recognized as an expert on interfaith, intercultural, and highly personalized nondenominational weddings. She honors relationships between all couples and believes in focusing on the common denominator of love.

She is a graduate of the New Seminary for Interfaith Studies. She received her B.A. in Human Development from S.U.N.Y and studied Marriage and Family Therapy at Mercy College. She is the author of more than thirty books including Your Interfaith Wedding and her ground-breaking best seller, The Goddess Pages. Laurie McQuary has been on the Portland and national psychic scene since 1985. When she was eighteen she was in a horseback riding accident. Laurie was in a coma for three weeks and after she awoke her life has never been the same. She began having dreams, like newsreels on black & white film, of violent plane crashes. Shockingly, a few days later she began seeing television newsreels of these same airline disasters actually happening.

Laurie McQuary has been established as a professional psychic and has gained fame for her work in a series of notable cases. The cases range from missing persons to crime investigations. Laurie had a professional office in Lake Oswego since 1985 but is now semi-retired and is living in central Oregon with her retired former police detective husband of thirty-one years.

Rabbi Michael Lerner – Revolutionary Love

In the spring of 2020, with the spread of the pandemic, the challenges it presented, the egregious acts of racism and racial violence and a failure of leadership to address these challenges, I shared on this program and in my community that it was a time for acts of radical kindness, radical compassion and radical love. We begin 2021 with the recognition that these acts continue to call to us and that our very survival is contingent on caring for one another, our environment, and our world. How may we find a path to this and in doing so open the hearts and minds of all peoples to this reality.

My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Rabbi Michael Lerner, has made this path much of his life’s work. Rabbi Lerner is an American political activist, the editor of “Tikkun”, a progressive Jewish interfaith magazine based in Berkeley, California, and the Rabbi of Beyt Tikkun Synagogue in Berkeley. Rabbi Lerner’s legacy of political activism was launched in 1964 when he attended UC Berkeley. He walked past students sitting in protest, listened to their speeches, and joined their efforts quickly becoming a leader in the student movement. The failures of the social change movements of the 60s and 70s inspired him to study psychology to gain a deeper understanding of the psychodynamics of American society. Intellectual wisdom and curiosity as well as spiritual depth have always been the foundation of his work and efforts, giving rise to many articles, books, and ultimately, Tikkun magazine. Lower Ego Vulnerability and Difficulty Achieving Your Life’s Purpose

This week on “It’s Your Ego—Stupid!”, Dr. Nick will be looking intensely into the mirror of being able to achieve using our potential and ultimately fulfilling our life’s purpose. Each of us has been given many gifts which we can work with in order to fulfill our human and Divine purpose. A human purpose in which we can use our gifts in whatever life’s work we choose to undertake. Be it as a teacher, accountant, custodian, athlete, minister—any and all options available to us. A Divine purpose common to all, in which our human purpose provides us with the opportunity to be the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is, within our service to others, and ultimately to ourselves.

Unfortunately, for those with lower ego vulnerability, they are often lacking the needed motivation to persevere when the achievement process involves more work than fun and play. They get bored easily and often quit learning, doing, and achieving things sooner before the payoff of fun, success, and fulfilment comes along. This undermines their ability to engage in service involving their potential that goes beyond serving themselves. Ultimately, impacting their ability to experience a sense of meaning and purpose to their lives that goes beyond their next “fun fix.” Roles they may find their way into living, until they awaken, include the Hedonist and the Inattentive Person. I’ll be looking at symptoms, reflections of ego stupidity, and the impact on spiritual wellness which occurs when caught up in this energy. I’ll also be looking at specific insights needed to transform lower ego flexibility into a healthier and more balanced place.
