Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, Ph.D., was raised in an American family in Hollywood, California, and graduated from Stanford University. She was completing her Ph.D. in Psychology when she left America in 1996 to live at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, India. She has been living there for the past 24 years, engaged in spiritual practice and service.

Sadhviji was officially initiated into the order of Sanyas (monastic renunciation) in the year 2000, by her Guru, His Holiness Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, one of India’s most revered spiritual leaders and the President of Parmarth Niketan.

At Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh, where Sadhviji lives most of the year, she gives daily spiritual discourses and Satsang, teaches meditation, provides counseling, and oversees a myriad of charitable and humanitarian projects.

Sadhviji leads discourses and question-answer sessions on topics ranging from Indian spirituality to the bridge between science and spirituality to the keys of true happiness and meaning in daily life and teaches meditation to seekers from every corner of the globe. She travels across the world giving spiritual discourses, question-answer sessions, and meditation courses. Higher Ego Flexibility and Difficulty Resolving Conflict

This week on It’s Your Ego—Stupid!, Dr. Nick will be looking intensely into the mirror of our ability to resolve the small and large conflicts, arguments, and disagreements that take place in our lives. These conflicts are inevitable because we each possess an individuality that makes us unlike anyone who has ever lived, is living, or will be living. It is this uniqueness in our being, rooted in our having been formed by a unique set of life events, relationships, and experiences, that sets the stage for this inevitable conflict. One of the tasks of life is to reconcile our differences in ways that can lead to growth and learning from conflict rather than the often seen distance and destructiveness that results from conflict. Conflicts that often last far too long, being fueled by the ego energy at work to keep them unresolved. Particularly, those involving our spouse or partner, parents, children, and siblings.

Unfortunately, for those with higher ego flexibility, they have a difficult time initiating or participating in healthy conflict. Their overly flexible mind makes it difficult to think for themselves and being able to challenge others, when it would be appropriate to do so. For them, truth lies elsewhere and not within. So, they avoid conflicts because they have greater respect for what others think than for what they think. This contributes to their being overly agreeable, naïve, or gullible in situations where there can be differences of opinion, including what they have to say on the issue, that are equally worthy of being respected. They miss many opportunities to grow their mind and others which comes with raising questions about matters under consideration when conflict is taking place. Roles they may find their way into living, until they awaken to their ego energy, include the Adult Child, the Cultist, and the Puppet.

During the show I’ll be looking at symptoms, reflections of ego stupidity, and the impact on spiritual wellness which occurs when a person is being affected by higher ego flexibility energy in their ability to work through and resolve conflicts. I’ll also be looking at specific ego insights needed to transform higher ego flexibility into a healthier and more balanced place.
