Linda Kohanov - The Five Roles of a Master Herder
We live in a world of complicated relationships. Professionally and personally, these relationships are driven by the traits each of us brings to them and the roles we assume. With disparate approaches to these relationships, problem solving, team building and progress may be difficult to achieve without a deeper understanding of the part each of us play. Is there an older, deeper, and simpler form of wisdom that we can call upon to better define our roles and succeed in both the work place and personal life?
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Linda Kohanov, says there is and it comes from good old-fashioned “horse sense.” Linda is beloved for her groundbreaking articulation of “the way of the horse,” an experiential wisdom known to riders for centuries but little studied or adapted for off-horse use. Linda has used this new model with executive teams at such companies as Nike, Chub Insurance and Raytheon. She is the author of The Power of the Herd and bestseller, The Tao of Equus and speaks and teaches internationally. She established Eponaquest Worldwide to explore the healing potential of working with horses and offers programs on everything from emotional and social intelligence, leadership, stress reduction and parenting consensus to build mindfulness. Her website is eponaquest.com and she joins me this week to discuss her new book, The Five Roles of a Master Herder—A Revolutionary Model for Socially Intelligent Leadership.

Sarah Bamford Seidelmann - Swimming with Elephants
Imagine this scenario. You come from a long line of physicians. You follow the family tradition, study medicine and practice for twenty years. But something is missing. Something does not feel right. Something does not feel good about what you are doing and the way you are doing it. You take a leave from your practice, a leap of faith and venture out to find a different approach to healing those you are called to work with and ultimately, heal yourself.
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Sarah Bamford Seidelmann, actually lived this story. Sarah is a fourth-generation physician turned shamanic healer and life coach, who deeply enjoys shenanigans! She’s a frequent blogger at Maria Shriver’s site for Architects of Change and has led sold-out retreats combining surfing and shamanism in Hawaii and a sacred pachydermal pilgrimage to Thailand. She loves to help others find their “feel good” so they can live courageously and enthusiastically. Ira Israel - How to Survive Your Childhood Now That You’re an Adult
In 1985, the group ‘Til Tuesday composed and recorded their hit song, “Voices Carry.” As adults, many if not all of us “carry voices.” What I mean by that is within our memories, we store the voices and words of parents, relatives, care givers, teachers and others that left an impression upon us as children. As we strive for success and happiness in life, some of those recorded voices play back in our psyche with words like, “not good enough,” “not pretty enough,” “stupid,” “too fat,” “too skinny,” and other charged expressions that may interfere with the life we aspire too. Some of these recollections may be complete and real and some may be colored by perceptions that we embellished them with as life ensued. How can we move passed these old programs and live a true, authentic and joy filled life?
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, psychotherapist Ira Israel, says we can and in doing so, accept who we really are, find our true calling and discover the path to authentic love that is our birthright. Ira is a licensed marriage and family therapist and professional clinical counselor. He holds advanced degrees in psychology, philosophy and religious studies. His DVD series including A Beginners Guide to Happiness and Mindfulness for Depression along with his sold out Esalen workshops have given him a wide international following. He joins me this week to discuss his new book, How to Survive Your Childhood Now That You’re an Adult: A Path To Authenticity and Awakening.

M. J. Ryan - Attitudes of Gratitude
When we take time to stop and reflect, how do we measure our lives? Do we look at the balance between perceived successes and failures in material gain, careers and relationships? Do we take inventory of that which we think makes us happy and that which makes us sad? Is there satisfaction in either way of taking stock, and is there a deeper, more profound practice to open our hearts and find core happiness?
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, M. J. Ryan, says there is and it comes in the practice of gratitude. M. J. is one of the creators of The New York Times bestselling Random Acts of Kindness and the author of The Happiness Makeover, How to Survive Change You Didn’t Ask For, and The Power of Patience among other titles. Altogether, there are 1-3/4 million copies of her books in print. Bernard Haisch - Proof of God
The question is as old as human kind has had the ability to think, reason and ask. Is there a God? If so, does God care about us? Or is human life a mere accident of physics and biology? For centuries, these fundamental questions have been integral to every culture and religion the world has known—and have not been answered, save by faith. When it comes to finding answers about how the universe came into existence, “God” is simply another theory. A theory that, many say, is no longer needed. But in the new book, PROOF OF GOD: The Shocking True Answer to the World’s Most Important Question, New York Times bestselling author Ptolemy Tompkins joins forces with internationally acclaimed astrophysicist Bernard Haisch to demonstrate that not only is God real, but that it is science, itself, that proves it.
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Bernard—“Bernie”—Haisch is something of an anomaly—a respected, accomplished scientist who believes, firmly and fervently, in the existence of God. Many scientists disdain faith, as there is no empirical evidence of any of it, and many Christians fear science, which they believe contradicts their beliefs. But the truth, Bernie argues in this book, is that you can’t understand the universe without acknowledging that the evidence of God is clear in the very make-up of our world. Science and faith are two sides of the same coin.
