In her touchingly honest memoir, Flight Instructions: A Journey Through Guilt to Forgiveness, Kathleen Perkins chronicles the eventual decades-long journey that began at age thirty-three to answer an inner call ferocious enough to wrench her from her three young children and husband of fourteen years. A whole new world opened for her, that included an MA in gerontology, a PhD in Social Work and an academic career.
