Higher Ego Vulnerability and Difficulty Dealing with Significant Life Changes

This week on “It’s Your Ego—Stupid!”, Dr. Nick will be looking intensely into the mirror of our ability to manage significant life changes that we are called upon to deal with. These include developmental changes involving our health, growth, and development. Situational changes involving work, relationships, and finances. Also, societal and technological changes taking place in an ever changing world we are called on to deal with. During the show I’ll be looking at symptoms, reflections of ego stupidity, and the impact on spiritual wellness which occurs when one is caught up in higher ego vulnerability energy. I’ll also be looking at specific ego insights needed to transform higher ego vulnerability into a healthier and more balanced place.

Unfortunately, for those with higher ego vulnerability, they often approach significant changes taking place in their life with fear and anxiety. Rather, than welcoming change, they are prone to view it as threatening and respond to it by over-reacting to it or by trying to avoid it or creating distance from it, such as may occur with procrastination or trying to “hide” from it. Consequently, when change is natural, normal, or needed, they often engage in a lot of ego stupidity involving non-reality based, truth disconnected thoughts, feelings, and behaviors involving change that tend to make things worse, not better. This includes a lot of “fear-based” and “anger-based” thoughts that undermine their ability to deal with significant, but normal, changes that take place in all of our lives involving health, work, relationships, and finances. Roles they may find their way into living, until they awaken, include the Stressed-Out Person, the Order Freak, and the Clean Freak.

In the wake of the most contentious presidential election of our lifetime… there has indeed been an awakening.

There has been a subtle yet world-changing shift toward what we are calling political climate change – warmer hearts and cooler heads. Even in selecting Biden over Trump, there was an affirmation of the politics of connection and collaboration over the politics of domination and separation.

This politics of unity cannot pretend we all agree. Rather it involves finding ways to turn the dueling dualities of progressive and conservative into dynamic duo dance partners. In November, we interviewed transpartisan visionary and activist Mark Gerzon about a new documentary based on his book, The Reunited States Of America: How to Bridge The Partisan Divide.

Mark served as a consulting producer and also appears in the film. It is directed by Ben Rekhi and produced by Raj Krishna. It features Steven Olikara, of the Millennial Action Project; Greg Orman, an independent politician who ran for Governor of Kansas in 2018; and David and Erin Leaverton, who took a road trip to all fifty states with their three kids in an RV in an effort to understand why our nation was hurting.

The documentary was produced by Van Jones and Megan McCain, a Democrat and a Republican. The film was well-received both at the Cinequest Film Festival and the Atlanta DocuFest and the United Nations Association Film Festival.

The film was released last month – we have a link on the Wiki Politiki page for this interview – and we are delighted to have the producer of that film, Raj Krishna, as our guest today.

Raj Krishna is the founder of California Studios, a Silicon Valley-based development company focused on producing content exploring international stories and social justice issues. Raj sold his first short film My ‘Friend’ Mick to ShortsTV in 2019; his India-based film Knock Knock Knock was sold to Mubi in 2020; his directorial debut film Padmavyuha premiered as the opening night gala film at the International Indian Film Festival of Toronto (IIFFT) in August 2020; and his documentary project, The Reunited States, will be released in 2021.

Terry Lovelace – Incident at Devils Den

I’ve openly shared on my podcasts, at conventions, with friends and family, and within my professional community, of my UFO sightings and contact experiences that date back to my childhood in the 1950’s. I was never concerned about ridicule or being believed because these were my personal, valid experiences. Professionally, my sharing was often received with smirks, smiles and eye rolling, but it did not jeopardize my career or reputation. In retrospect I was fortunate. What about those who are reticent to share these experiences because they fear ridicule, ostracizing and loss of professional respect and standing.

My guest this week on Vox Novus, Terry Lovelace, kept the secret of his alien abduction for many years for these very reasons. Terry Lovelace is a six-year veteran of the USAF. He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a law degree from Western Michigan. His legal career began in private practice until his appointment as an assistant attorney general for the U.S. Territory of American Samoa, he also served as an assistant attorney general for the State of Vermont until his 2012 retirement. He and a friend were abducted from Devil’s Den State Park in northwest Arkansas in June of 1977, while remote camping. They were both on active duty at the time. In 2012 a routine leg x-ray discovered two anomalous objects in his leg. That event was the catalyst to write and speak publicly about his experiences. For fear of losing his position, and the respect of his peers in the legal community, he waited until 2018 to self-publish INCIDENT AT DEVILS DEN, a #1, highly reviewed, Bestseller on Amazon. His second book, DEVILS DEN: THE RECKONING was published the week of Christmas 2020. It was #1 in New Releases and hit Bestseller status, ranking at #4 in early January.

Since March 2018, he has been a radio/podcast guest more than one-hundred times for hosts that including George Knapp, George Noory, Linda Moulton Howe, and Jimmy Church. He has spoken at the UFO Congress, Contact in the Desert, Roswell, and is a scheduled speaker at the Ozark Digital Conference set for April 2021 and at Contact in the Desert in May of 2021.
