Neuroscience teaches us that how we are in relationships is the result of patterns learned from the beginning of life in our interactions with our caregivers.

According to Judy Wilkins-Smith, that’s some of the explanation, but not the full story. Our relationships often begin in the emotional DNA and events of our ancestors. Because our patterns of relating can be demonstrated to be generationally transmitted both in family and organizational systems, our patterns of relationships are often not ours. Moreover, whenever we feel lost, trapped, stuck, resentful, angry, fearful, or diminished in a relationship, we are likely perpetuating a multigenerational relationship pattern in our family system at our cost, which serves neither us nor the system. To start the journey of creating strong relationships, we need to look at the relationships that aren’t working.

Our relationships are our keys to success, flexibility, growth, leadership, deep inner understanding, fulfillment, and happiness. They are also hotbeds of systemic patterns and how we relate directly impacts our quality of life.

Laurie McQuary has been on the Portland and national psychic scene since 1985. When she was eighteen she was in a horseback riding accident. Laurie was in a coma for three weeks and after she awoke her life has never been the same. She began having dreams, like newsreels on black & white film, of violent plane crashes. Shockingly, a few days later she began seeing television newsreels of these same airline disasters actually happening.

Laurie McQuary has been established as a professional psychic and has gained fame for her work in a series of notable cases. The cases range from missing persons to crime investigations. Laurie had a professional office in Lake Oswego since 1985 but is now semi-retired and is living in central Oregon with her retired former police detective husband of thirty-one years.

Roles People Live – The Perfectionist

This week on It’s Your Ego—Stupid!, Dr. Nick will be looking intensely at people who are living in the role of the Perfectionist. A person who has difficulty coming to terms with the weaknesses and imperfections of their humanity. A person who has difficulty accepting themselves as they are and often engages in perfectionism as a means to hiding their weaknesses from themselves as well as, from others. An approach to life that is often stressful for themselves and others, particularly those they live or work with. This is someone who can be a family member or friend, a co-worker or employer. Unfortunately, this approach only offers temporary, if any relief, because they are working against the inherent imperfect nature of their humanity. While failing to realize that our perfection resides within our Divinity.

During this show, I’ll be drawing upon my book The Two Voices Within to look at the impact of higher ego vulnerability on the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of those living in the role of Perfectionist. I’ll be looking at the “voice” of ego and the messages the Perfectionist is experiencing and working with due to the mixture of their higher ego vulnerability energy and their mind. Many of them, the Perfectionist is unaware of, but still exerting a powerful impact on their life and unfortunately others. I’ll also be looking at what their ego energy is doing to block the Perfectionist from hearing the voice of spirit which is rooted in their Divinity. An inability to recognize the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is, within their being, due to the great distance being created by their ego energy. When the Perfectionist is able to “hear” the truth contained within each of these voices, the door to transformation can open, and the days of living in the role of Perfectionist can be ended.
