The refrain to one of my favorite songs goes like this: “Because the One I love lives inside of you, I lean as close to you as I can.”

This is how we feel when we have reverence for and show reverence to everyone.

As a frontline social worker in a busy Emergency Room I have worked with hundreds of deaths. I am aware that life can end suddenly, tragically and unexpectedly. I also know that people can die slowly, where the impending loss gradually unfolds.

What if we allowed enough time to feel sad, heal and then gently return to all that life has to offer? What if our understanding about death was so vast that it inspired us to embrace life in a whole new different way?
