Effie Miri, Ph. D. is a doctor of psychology, professor, Iranian native, and American Citizen. She is the author of Iran, How a Culture Develops Pathology, a memoir of her personal experiences as a mother, student, immigrant and psychotherapist, navigating two different cultures. Her story presents the experience of thousands of Iranians who left the country due to the revolution. While symptoms like anxiety, depression, aggression, fear, shame, and guilt are shared by all human beings, she believes that the Iranian culture of today is more likely to breed fear, insecurity, self-doubt and dishonesty in a people she lovingly describes as sharp, ambitious, and hardworking. The different treatment of boys and girls, and the religious orientation of the culture have, she believes, created deep psychological pathology. Miri’s book is not meant to be religious or political, but as Iranian people are in essence, religious, the conversation must include Islam. Iran, she argues, has had often-bastardized, fear-based versions of Islam imposed by many past and present religious leaders of questionable qualifications, impacting the mental health of its people.

This week, it goes direct so we can anticipate our stalled plans moving forward again especially when it comes to finances.

Love planet Venus moves into Gemini on Tuesday. While Venus visits Gemini, and depending on how this influence affects other planets in your natal chart, your social life could be very stimulating! You might find yourself connecting with a wide variety of friends, and enjoying an assortment of activities. Curiosity is high, and you’re eager to try new experiences and learn about different subjects.

Take care on Thursday, especially in any work related matters as Jupiter forms a square to Saturn putting strict limits on all the fun, travel, expansion and adventure we usually expect from Jupiter. What we want to do interferes with what we should do. What we actually do is a measure of our maturity (ah! a Saturn test). We struggle to envelop both the big and the small, the inner and the outer. The answer, of course, is somewhere in middle.

On Friday, Mars moves backwards into Scorpio. Mars is the warrior planet and when the warrior turns retrograde, the fight becomes more of an internal one. For some, Mars retrograde in Scorpio suggests the re-appearance of a former lover, disrupting an existing relationship. Jealousy, whether warranted or not, is another expression of Martian anger, usually kept under control but let loose during the retrograde period.

Colleen Mauro founded Intuition Magazine to introduce readers to the emerging field of intuition development. The Three Types of Telepathy

In experiments dating back to the nineteenth century, scientists have validated two types of telepathy: instinctual, or feeling-based, telepathy and mental, or mind-to-mind, telepathy. The Wisdom teachings tell us that there is another, higher type of telepathy called soul-to-soul, or spiritual telepathy.

Spiritual telepathy is the higher correspondence to our personal intuition. Our personal intuition provides guidance about our day-to-day lives. The soul knows our higher purpose; it is our divine partner, our highest and most reliable source of direction and guidance.

Creative Meditation

We make contact the soul through the daily practice of creative meditation. Many meditation practices focus only on quieting the mind. In this type of meditation, we go a step further and actively train our minds to transmit information from the soul to the brain. In the same way that our homes are wired for telephone and internet connection, creative meditation allows us to create the threads and cables that will link us to the higher worlds.

Our Evolutionary Step

When we make contact with the soul, we take our first steps into the subtle worlds and cross the boundary from human to superhuman development. Those of us who take this step are the pioneers who will lead the way from one stage of our species evolution to the next.

Refinement Practices

To create a direct line of communication between the soul and the brain, we need to purify our bodies and quiet our minds and emotions. Illness, fatigue and mental or emotional static make it hard for our brains to register higher wisdom and ideas. Refinement practices are a part of all our spiritual traditions. Although the methods vary from tradition to tradition, the requirements and goals are the same: purity of body, control of the emotions, and stability of mind. The book includes a variety of easy to use refinement practices.

The Everyday Genius

The wisdom teachings tell us that the soul is the portal or gateway to the higher worlds. When we make contact with the soul, we have access to the universal or divine mind, the storehouse of all wisdom and knowledge. Our most celebrated creative thinkers—those people we call geniuses or visionaries—have all had the ability to access the higher worlds. Colleen’s research shows us that genius is not a rare and random event but an experience each of us can cultivate.
