Sunday Nov 06, 2016
Aired Sunday, 6 November 2016, 9:00 PM ET
Are you called “fiery” more often than “tough?” Do friends say you’re “deep” just as much as they joke you’re a “wet blanket?” What about “cool and collected” versus “grounded?” Or that you’re “the rock” of your relationships? Everyone seems to want to know themselves more fully and there are countless personality systems to help them in their quest of self-awareness. There are countless on-line personality quizzes, relationship and compatibility tests, the Myers-Briggs, and astrology, to name a few. But one of the oldest assessment tools in existence has started making a comeback: the five elements of Chinese medicine.
Originating over 2,000 years ago, the five elements system stems from scholars who theorized the universe is composed of five forces: water, wood, fire, earth, and metal.
Join Sylvia and her guest, Dondi Dahlin, author of The Five Elements: Understand Yourself and Enhance Your Relationships with the Wisdom of the World’s Oldest Personality Type System, as they discuss how you can achieve and maintain balance physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally when you understand yourself through the ancient healing system of the five elements.

Sunday Nov 06, 2016
Aired Sunday, 6 November 2016, 2:00 PM ET
This Sunday we discuss the heartbreaking story of a mother Mia St. John as she lost her son as he was being treated at a mental health facility to suicide.
On Nov. 23, I received the call no parent wants to get – my only son was dead. My beautiful, 24-year-old boy was gone. It is a nightmare I have yet to wake up from; one I will never wake up from.
About the Guest Mia St. John
Mia St. John was born in San Francisco, California. Her fighting career started soon after, at the age of six, competing in Tae Kwon Do. Mia earned a black belt and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from California State University of Northridge in June of ’94.
In 1996, Mia decided to pursue her true passion full-time, the sport of combat. Valentine’s Day, 1997, Mia made her pro-debut in boxing, knocking out her opponent in fifty-four seconds into the first round. Mia signed with Don King and stayed with him for a year and a half before she left King for his rival Bob Arum of Top Rank. At Top Rank, Mia spent four years opening for all of Oscar De La Hoya’s major fights.
In the November 1999 issue of Playboy magazine, Mia appeared on the cover along with an eleven page celebrity pictorial. Mia insisted the pictures maintain a boxing theme so that the world would know she is a fighter first and foremost.
As well as being a hard-hitting boxer, Mia is media savvy. She has made appearances on such shows as, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, “Good Morning America,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Extra,” “TMZ,” “E,” and countless others. She has also acted in commercials and played herself on t. v. shows. Mia also has her own Playstation game by EA sports.
Currently her book, “The Knockout Workout” and fitness dvd, is in stores now nationwide. She is also hosting for networks such as, Fox Sports Net, ESPN, ESPN Deportes and color commentating for PPV fights.
Mia has fought all over the world, including Beijing, China, where she won her IBA Championship. After accumulating an unheard of boxing record of nearly 60 pro fights, on June 14th, 2008, Mia fulfilled her dream of fighting in her mother’s home country of Mexico. She fought one of the toughest fights of her career and became the WBC International Boxing Champion of the World at the age of 40.
In November of ’08 she was awarded by the Governor of Zacatecas, Mexico an outstanding achievement award for her role in sports and humanitarianism. The WBC also presented her with the 2008 “WBC Goodwill Ambassador” Award.
In November of 2010, Rep. Grace F. Napolitano joined Mia and LA Laker Ron Artest for an official mental health and suicide prevention training at Napolitano’s district office in Santa Fe Springs. Artest and St. John have joined Napolitano to promote the Mental Health in Schools Act, legislation she authored which would increase federal funding for mental health therapists in schools.
She also spoke at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, where President Barack Obama made a riveting speech at the CHCI’s annual Gala.
As well as Congress, Mia speaks in schools and juvenile halls on the importance of education and overcoming hardship. She speaks of her own battles with mental illness, addiction, poverty and overcoming it all, to become a three time international boxing champion.
On August 14th, 2012, Mia fought Christy Martin in a long awaited rematch. Her dream of sixteen years finally materialized and at the age of 45, she captured the WBC Super Welter Weight Championship of the World.

Buddha’s Diet: The Ancient Art Of Losing Weight Without Losing Your Mind With Dan Zigmond And Tara Cottrell
Aired Thursday, 3 November 2016, 7:00 PM ET
There’s a lot we don’t know about the Buddha. For one, the real Buddha as thin. And before he became the “Enlightened One,” he was a pampered prince named Siddhartha. He tried starving himself in his quest for inner peace, but found that extremes brought him no closer to enlightenment. Instead, he sought a “middle way” between unhealthy overindulgence and unrealistic abstinence. The instructions he gave his monks about eating more than 2,500 years ago were surprisingly simple.
Fast forward to today. Cutting Edge scientific research tells us something Buddha knew all along; it’s not what you eat, but when you eat that’s most important. You don’t need to follow the latest fads or give up your favorite foods. You just need to remember a few guidelines that Buddha provided – guidelines that, believe it or not, will help you lose weight, feel better, and stop obsessing about food.
Join Sandie Sedgbeer and guests Dan Zigmond and Tara Cottrell as they discuss:
* Buddha’s diet – what is it, and why is it so successful?
* How changing your eating clock is an ancient technique for wellness that Buddha recommended thousands of years ago.
* How to shut down emotional eating by separating the emotion from the food choice
* How changing your eating clock and aligning it with your circadian rhythm can bring balance and weight loss
* and more…

The Reverend Jennith Lynn is an internationally known Intuitive Empath, Angelic Psychic Medium, Energy Healer, and Illusion Buster. In 2004, Jennith experienced a walk-in merging with her higher self aspect, the Archangel (Archeia) Faith, that changed her life forever, plunging her into a profound, rapid, and continual spiritual awakening during which Spirit gifted her with an ‘inside out’ understanding of the ‘Twin Flame’ dynamic and how it relates to coming into UNION with all aspects of SELF. Along with this came a strong sense of purpose to spread this message and assist those who are ready to step out of dogmatic belief systems and into their true, multidimensional power. Utilizing her connections with her ‘higher’ aspects and guides – Archangel Faith and Spirit of Great Horned Owl to name a few – along with her gifts of Clairsentience, Claircognizance, Clairvoyance, and Clairaudience -Jennith serves as a vessel of Spirit to deliver whatever message is in alignment with the Seeker’s highest good. She has a knack for helping the Seeker unravel their own confusing, challenging, or unseen threads and patterns so they may release fear, honor their soul’s unique journey, and move forward with Clarity and Faith. Jennith is also a natural energy healer – practicing Reiki as well as other healing methods – and is in progress of expanding upon her work as a ‘Soul Doula’ – one who helps others to navigate rebirth and death points in life, both literal and symbolic. In her personal life, she is lover of animals, nature, music, photography, and the written word.
