Beverley Gilmour is a children’s book author, founder of Merlinus Publishing, and is currently doing doctoral research to attain a PhD in the study of human consciousness. In 1992, Beverley became a victim of violent rape, surviving a severe traumatic brain injury that led to 30 years of extended states of altered consciousness. Her heartbeat would stop, and her consciousness would separate from her body, resulting in a state of being flatlined called ‘Actual Death Experiences’ [ADEs]. She could have ended her life, but she chose her love and commitment to her three young children as well as her desire to understand ADE’s to keep her strong and continuing. She earned a BA Honors Degree in Screenwriting for Film and Television and a Masters in Publishing.

Alex Crenshaw, founder of the Zen Institute in Mount Shasta, California, embarked on a transformative journey at 28, leaving a corporate accounting career for seven years of Zen training at the Rochester Zen Center, New York.

Returning to corporate life in Charlotte, North Caroline, he worked six years in a petrochemical company while volunteering with A Child’s Place, aiding homeless children. Later, he earned an MBA from Wake Forest University and moved to California for advanced Zen training, focusing on the subconscious mind through meditation.
