Rick Hanson – Resilient
Almost every faith on earth has a version of “The Golden Rule”. In essence, it instructs us “to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” In our hectic and challenging world today, most people practice a variation…”I’ll do unto you and owe myself one.” Why is it so easy to extend love, compassion and caring to others and not do the same for ourselves? What events in our lives programmed our brains to react this way and is there a way to reprogram them to extend to ourselves the same loving kindness we extend to others and know that we are worthy to receive it?
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Rick Hanson, says there is a way back to self-love and self-compassion. Rick is a psychologist, a senior fellow of UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center and a New York Times best-selling author. Available in twenty-six languages Hardwiring Happiness, Buddha’s Brain, Just One Thing and Mother Nurture. An invited speaker at NASA, Oxford and Harvard, he has also taught in meditation centers worldwide. He joins me this week to discuss his latest book, co-authored with his son, Forrest Hanson, called Resilient: How to Grow and Unshakeable Core of Calm, Strength, and Happiness.

Heal What You Feel!
This week on Miracle Guidance for Everyday Life, Dr. Harra shows you how to eliminate stress and alleviate anxiety to remain in control of everyday life.
Daily life can be beyond stressful; between a demanding job and even more demanding home life, it can be impossible to squeeze a bit of serenity into our schedule. We’re always on the go, always occupied, and always a step ahead, because we think we’ll get more done this way. What we’re really doing is throwing our wellbeing off balance: overwhelming our senses and psyche can lead to emotional disorders and even physical disease.
Dr. Harra will teach you the three actions you need to take to re-stabilize your emotions and regain control in stressful situations. She’ll offer you eight techniques to bust stress and boost your serenity throughout the day. And as always, she’ll be ready to take your calls and answer all life questions.
Reclaim your peace of mind this Tuesday at 7pm EST on Miracle Guidance for Everyday Life!

Would You Rather Be Right Than Happy?
Being right is one of the things people value the most. It’s also one of the things that creates most of the conflict on this planet.
It actually takes a lot more energy to try to be right than to allow yourself to be wrong. How hard do we fight to be right? When you’re willing to be wrong, there is nothing others have to push against, and you can actually create even greater possibilities.
We wonder what would happen if you were actually willing to be wrong! Join Betsy McLoughlin & Kathy Williams and let’s see what being wrong has contributed to their lives.

Speaking About the “Unspeakable” – and Original Blessing
A Conversation with Theologian and Author Matthew Fox
“Regarding the silence around ‘the unspeakable’ — can we talk?” — Swami Beyondananda
This week Wiki Politiki is deeply honored to welcome one of the most influential — and controversial — theologians of our time, Matthew Fox. A Catholic priest with the Dominican Order, he wrote a paradigm-breaking book in 1983, Original Blessing: A Primer in Creation Spirituality that first got him censured and silenced by the Catholic hierarchy, and later excommunicated.
Given his “unconditional release” by the Catholic team he was picked up on waivers by the Episcopal Church in 1994, and two years later founded the University of Creation Spirituality in Oakland, California — later moved to the Nairopa Institute in Boulder, Colorado. He has been called by some theologians “the next Pierre Teilhard de Chardin” because of his global, ecumenical and evolutionary approach to bringing spirit to life.
Our Wiki discussion will focus on his 2016 book, A Way To God: Thomas Merton’s Creation Spirituality Journey. In addition to being Fox’s mentor and inspiration, Thomas Merton originated the term “the unspeakable” (see James Douglass’ book on the Kennedy assassination, JFK And the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters to describe the American government’s descent into toxic secrecy. In his book, Matthew Fox offers compelling evidence that Merton’s “accidental” death was murder (see Wikipedia account above) and Matthew will offer his perspective about why THOMAS MERTON died, and why it matters.
We will speak about the “unspeakable” — remember, Swami says “the truth shall upset you free” — and then speak even more forcefully on behalf of “original blessing” that brings the evolutionary paradigm of love, awareness and connection to what had become a moribund theology.
If you’re ready for a frank conversation about the nature of “evil” and a mega-dose of the antidote, please tune in to hear this visionary, missionary, solutionary.

The Planets This Week: July 2, 2018
July this year has some key lessons for us to learn about compassion. With quite a few feel-good transits, particularly in the first third of the month, many of us will be feeling settled – however, events later in the month are set to question that kind of complacency. We’re being asked to examine our consciences and to challenge the egotism and aggression we see around us.
Chiron turns retrograde in Aries on July 4th, initiating a four-month period during which learning from the past becomes super-important. That which has hurt us previously now serves only to make us more conscious and more aware. The Sun makes two happy trines in the first week of July, first to Jupiter and then to Neptune – these aspects encourage the free flow of money and resources and give us the sensitivity to help those who need these resources the most.
As Venus moves into Virgo on July 9th, a much more cynical air prevails. The Cancer New Moon on the 12th is a Supermoon and partial Solar Eclipse, opposed by powerful Pluto. The message here is not to start something new unless you’re totally confident that it has the backing of those who matter. The Leo Sun makes a difficult square to Uranus on July 25th, followed by a heated opposition to Mars on the 27th – these transits bring volatile, unpredictable energy which can be quite angry. July rounds out with a Full Moon and total Lunar Eclipse on July 27th which highlights uncertainty and the need for calm heads.
Tune in on Monday 6pm PT/9pm ET to find out more…
