Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, Ph.D., was raised in an American family in Hollywood, California, and graduated from Stanford University. She was completing her Ph.D. in Psychology when she left America in 1996 to live at Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, India. She has been living there for the past 24 years, engaged in spiritual practice and service.

Sadhviji was officially initiated into the order of Sanyas (monastic renunciation) in the year 2000, by her Guru, His Holiness Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, one of India’s most revered spiritual leaders and the President of Parmarth Niketan.

Higher Ego Power and Difficulty Growing the Quality of Your Mind

This week on “It’s Your Ego—Stupid!”, Dr. Nick will be looking intensely into the mirror of growing our mind with truth and how higher ego power can get in the way of this happening. We must each make a concerted effort to learn what we need to learn and unlearn the faulty truths, beliefs, attitudes, and values we may have acquired along the path of our lives. Something our brain helps us to do, but for which we must take ultimate responsibility. Otherwise, we run the risk of acquiring lots of inaccurate, distorted, and even disturbed ideas, beliefs, values, and prejudices, that we often have no clue is taking place. Such is the insidious process of unhealthy, imbalanced ego energy that can be at work in our lives.

Unfortunately, for those with higher ego power the over-empowerment within their ego energy has led them to assume they are the only one who can shape their thinking and that they must also do this for others. They have difficulty questioning their thoughts because to do so represents a loss of power and control, they so desperately want to hold onto. Also, they readily question the thinking of others and often insist that others acquire their thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, etc. In effect, giving them control over the minds of others. Roles they can come to live in include the Dictator, the Narcissist, the Control Freak, and the Bully. Lives often filled with an intense sense of entitlement to control others, which they can stop living in, if they awaken to the harmful and destructive impact of failing to grow their mind with truth, rather than with the truth they want to know for themselves and often others. During the show, I’ll be looking at symptoms, reflections of ego stupidity, and the impact on spiritual wellness which occurs when caught up in this energy. I’ll also be looking at specific insights needed to transform higher ego power into a healthier and more balanced place.

In 2005, journalist and NYU professor Mark Crispin Miller published a book, Fooled Again, presenting evidence that Republicans stole the elections in 2000 and 2004 using hacked voting machines and other nefarious means. While the mainstream press largely ignored the book, the so-called progressive press – including Democracy Now and Mother Jones — roundly condemned the book and dismissed Miller as a conspiracy theorist.

Here we are a decade-and-a-half later and the most mainstream of mainstream Democrats are discussing the prospect of Trump stealing the election, and not abiding by the results he be defeated. Makes you wonder … had we handled the bullying party then, maybe we wouldn’t be dealing with this “bullyshit” now.

Fortunately, Donald Trump is so blatantly toxic that everyone has been forewarned, and consequently forearmed. Our guest this week, Eleanor LeCain recently put out a video to help the sane and reverent majority reassert our will should the misleader try any monkey business.

Eleanor LeCain, is a long-time political visionary, strategist and public official. She spent 2019 as policy advisor to the Marianne Williamson campaign, and has extensive experience in successfully electing progressives at the federal, state and local level. In 2016, she was the National Director of the She Wins We Win campaign to elect Democratic women to Congress. In 2014, she was campaign manager for Marianne Williamson for Congress in Los Angeles. In 2012, she helped Elizabeth Warren win a seat in the US Senate, and she also served as Assistant Secretary of State for Massachusetts.

Her book, Breakthrough Solutions: How to Improve Your Life and Change the World by Building on What Works, has an Introduction by the Dalai Lama. The book profiles key innovations in areas such as education, crime, green jobs, and ending poverty. Her articles are published widely from the New York Times to the Boston Business Journal to Le Monde in Paris, France. She hosts her own show, All Together Now, on PRN radio.

When Strong Opinions Ruin Relationships

Having a difference of opinion with someone can be more than uncomfortable, sometimes we let it ruin the relationship.

A simple conversation can begin by sharing how you’re feeling that day, what your plans are, common friends you talked to last week and the restaurant you just dined at. Casual, social chit chat can be a feel good bonding conversation or it can highlight some emotional differences that stir up conflict.

‘You ate at THAT restaurant, oh I’d NEVER go there again. They were so rude to me, their washrooms were filthy, I can’t believe you didn’t think that.

Comments are regularly made and assumptions tossed around that, if we let them, have the power to separate us and can put us in possibly a defensive, retaliative or shameful position.

Opinions from others, whether they are welcome or not, can be delivered in many tones and for different reasons. Manipulation, control, connection, or education. They can lead to disagreements and arguments that can be very hurtful.

As a student wanting to learn how to navigate through opposing opinions, incorrect assumptions, projections and presumptions while maintaining my own sense of self and preserving relationships I bring the question ‘how do we unlimit and free ourselves from the confinement of opinions?’ to Master Spiritual Teacher GP Walsh.

*Can we maintain relationships with people we have difference of opinions with?

*How can we not feel threatened or triggered by opinions that are different than ours?

*When are different opinions valuable ?

*Why do we always want to be right and are sometimes willing to lose friendships over our beliefs?

The most important questions I’ll be asking GP is, can we maintain oneness and have different opinions without suffering?
