Higher Ego Vulnerability and Difficulty Achieving Your Life’s Purpose

This week on “It’s Your Ego—Stupid!”, Dr. Nick will be looking intensely into the mirror of being able to achieve using our potential and ultimately fulfilling our life’s purpose. Each of us has been given many gifts which we can work with in order to fulfill our human and Divine purpose. A human purpose in which we can use our gifts in whatever life’s work we choose to undertake. Be it as a teacher, accountant, custodian, athlete, minister—any and all options available to us. A Divine purpose common to all, in which our human purpose provides us with the opportunity to be the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is, within our service to others, and ultimately to ourselves.

Unfortunately, for those with higher ego vulnerability, they are often consumed with anxiety and fear, rather than love, in their efforts to achieve. Their efforts are often rooted in unrecognized issues in accepting the inherent weaknesses, imperfections, and vulnerability of their humanity. Achievement often becomes a means by which to push back on these issues. This is a poor strategy to fulfill one’s human and Divine purpose because it’s rooted in fear and not love. Roles they may find their way into living, until they awaken, include the Perfectionist, the Overachiever, and the Stress-Out Person. I’ll be looking at symptoms, reflections of ego stupidity, and the impact on spiritual wellness which occurs when caught up in this energy. I’ll also be looking at specific insights needed to transform lower ego flexibility into a healthier and more balanced place.

Norlyn Dimmitt – Activating the 76%

An Interview with Visionary Activist Norlyn Dimmitt

I’ve said it before, and it looks like this is going to become a broken record for my Wiki Politiki broadcasts for this coming year – we have a deeply UNITED body politic in that more than three quarters of us want to cooperate and collaborate, rather than fight one another.

When this week’s guest, visionary activist Norlyn Dimmitt asserted that 76% of Americans want to come together to solve problems, it reminded me of something that happened nearly 25 years ago. I was listening to a talk by spiritual psychologist Patricia Sun, and she recounted a presentation she gave at a new age bookstore. Outside the bookstore were four fundamentalist Christians picketing the bookstore. Patricia suggested going out to talk with the picketers, but the bookstore owner said, “Forget it. You can’t talk with those people.”

Nonetheless, Patricia went out to converse with the group, and after ten minutes three of the picketers put down their signs, hugged her and said, “You’re saying exactly what Jesus said.”

The fourth picketer was unmoved and continued to carry his sign.

This anecdote led me to postulate what I call “The Law of 75.” 75% of people – three quarters of us – are susceptible to loving, respectful conversation. Norlyn does me one percent better. His figures say 76%.

Furthermore, Norlyn is working with an organization, Compassionate Citizens that is weaving together hundreds of faith-based organizations to help bring about what he calls caring culture, caring economy, and wise democracy. One of the partners, the Listen First Coalition, is billed as “350+ organizations working together to mend our frayed social fabric by building relationships and bridging divides,” empowering what is called the National Conversation Project.

Norlyn’s own spiritual history involves being raised in the radically fundamentalist Worldwide Church of God, and evolving to one of those rare Unitarians who actually believes in God! His is a mathematician by training, an actuary by trade, and his experience in the real estate industry has led to his design of a unique way to fund Compassionate Conversations.

For months you’ve heard me talk about creating, populating and empowering a sane and sacred center to fill the vacuum in our society currently being occupied by the unchecked, unbalanced, unmitigated power of money. Are You the Reflection or the Light

Are you the reflection or the light? The answer is both!

You ARE the light but the reflection of light is also you.

Let me give an example. When you stand in front of a mirror is the reflection in the mirror you?

Well… yes it is. But… no it isn’t.

It is me, a likeness of me, a reflection of me and so it IS me but also ISN’T me.

In that simple everyday example, the whole mystery of non-duality is revealed as well as the mystery of how two could be one.

One in essence but two in reflection.

Every single thing you see, in the entire universe, is but the light reflecting off of it. We never see anything other than light, the oneness of light. And yet, that one light appears as the illimitable forms we call the universe.

But this is not mere philosophy. it is highly practical. Why? Because the quality of the image we hold of ourselves is what will mold all our perceptions.

Those perception literally create all experience and so your self-image is being constantly reflected back to you as what you call your life.

In this week’s “Flow of Enlightenment” show entitled “Are You the Reflection or the Light?” we will be taking on one of the least understood mysteries of non-dual spirituality, the oneness of the seer and the seen.
