Kathleen Marden – Captured!

As a child growing up in the 1950’s, I had a number of experiences that I could not explain. I would wake up in the middle of the night, have a sense of travelling into the sky and being in the presence of what I thought were “special teachers”. When this “night school” was over, I remember being back in my room, looking out the window and seeing triangular objects in the sky which quickly vanished. When I shared these experiences with my parents and others, I was told that I was “imagining” them and had an “overactive” imagination. But a series of events later in life confirmed what I knew to be the truth. I was a contactee and my teachers were not of this world. In 1966, I was fortunate to have been given a copy of John G. Fuller’s book, The Interrupted Journey. It was the story of Betty and Barney Hill, whose 1961 experience was far more frightening and unwelcomed than my own. In 2007, I read Captured! The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience : the True Story of the World’s First Documented Alien Abduction. The book was co-authored by the late Physicist and Ufologist Stanton Friedman and Betty Hill’s niece, Kathleen Marden. It provided a complete picture of the Hill’s abduction.

She has worked on three comprehensive studies on nearly 5,000 experiencers, two of which she initiated and saw to the end and has five published books. Lower Ego Flexibility and Difficulty Dealing with Adversity

This week on It’s Your Ego—Stupid!, Dr. Nick will be looking intensely into the mirror of our ability to deal with the adversity that we are all confronted with owing to the imperfection of our humanity. These include the various failures, losses, and mistakes we are all called upon to manage, from time to time. Life success is often a function of how well we get up and learn from them after having been knocked down by them. During the show I’ll be looking at symptoms, reflections of ego stupidity, and the impact on spiritual wellness which occurs when a person is being affected by lower ego flexibility energy in their encounters with adversity. I’ll also be looking at specific ego insights needed to transform lower ego flexibility into a healthier and more balanced place.

Unfortunately, for those with lower ego flexibility they often take a rigid and inflexible approach to thinking about their failures, losses, and mistakes. This often limits their understanding of the causes of problems, their contribution to them, and the solutions which may be necessary. This includes often thinking “inside the box” and mainly using what they know or want to know. This lends itself to a very stubborn quality in which they keep using the same approaches, even if they aren’t working. They have particular difficulty handling more complex problems and the ones where causes and solutions are hidden. Roles they may find their way into living, until they awaken to their ego energy, include the Authoritarian and the Paranoid Person.

In 1972 a book was written that was designed to change the world. The book, the Limits of Growth, was the first report issued by the Club of Rome, an organization founded by Italian industrialist Aurelio Peccei and Scottish scientist Alexander King in 1968. The report warned that economic growth could not continue indefinitely because of resource depletion. It went on to sell 30 million copies in more than 30 languages, making it the best-selling environmental book in history.

And yet … here we are nearly half a century later, and experiencing peak everything. The book was remarkably prescient … but apparently had little impact. What happened? And … what can be done about it?

Our guest on Wiki Politiki, David Korten, is a member of the Club of Rome, and has devoted his work to bringing about what he calls an “ecological civilization.” Writes David about the “epic choice” we face:

Look to the Heavens, Stand on the Earth

Heaven and earth are one.

Heaven represents the absolute, undifferentiated, spiritual essence or Truth.

That which is beyond all opposites, all categories of thought or conception, all descriptions, comparisons, contrasts and language itself.

It is the totally inconceivable beyond.

Try to imagine music without a song…

You can’t do it can you. Yes music, which is the potential for all songs and symphonies, clearly exists, made known by the songs we dance to, celebrate with, mourn with and fall in love to.

Music and the song cannot be separated. One is the essence, the other the manifestation. So it is with heaven and earth.

Earth is the song of heaven.

How do we come to hear this song, to see this heaven while standing here on earth?

All that is required is a simple shift of perception.

We only see what we believe. Our beliefs, held to be true literally create the world we experience.

You cannot experience anything that is outside of the range of your assumptions.

To change your world you must do two things

1 Challenge those assumptions

2 Cultivate faith in the unseen heaven
