Betsy Chasse – Killing Buddha: The Truth Shall Set You Free But First It Will Make You Miserable

The mid to late 1980’s where a major turning point in my life. Corresponding to my mid to late 30’s, a series of synchronicities reopened a dormant spiritual path, a path that had been asleep since my early teens. Grounded in science and logic, my world view started shifting as I explored spirituality amidst the burgeoning New Age and New Thought Movements. I was simultaneously thrilled and shaken as this transformation unfolded, later finding that there were millions having the same experience.

My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Betsy Chasse, experienced something similar as Co-Writer, Director and Producer, of the 2004 hit Indie film, “What The Bleep Do We Know.” Betsy Chasse is an award-winning filmmaker and best-selling author. She also produced “Song of the New Earth,” “Radical Dating,” and “Pregnant in America.” Her books include Tipping Sacred Cows and Metanoia: A Transformational Change of Heart. She is the Head of Content for CGood TV, a conscious media platform and has written for several national magazines. The Colossal Nature of FEAR

Fear is as central to BEING as breathing, and yet we experience it as overpowering and oppressive. The physical sensation of fear is so uncomfortable, it’s no wonder we’ll do anything possible to avoid feeling it. Because this FEAR infiltrates every aspect of life, we tend to work much harder than necessary in an attempt to offset its effect on our inner BEING and daily actions.

Sam will walk through the ways FEAR can be transformed from something we FIGHT, AVOID, and LOATHE into a new level of DEPTH, WISDOM, and FREEDOM.

As with all things GROWTH, our desire is to shed a different light on how you think about and connect with your inner Self.

‘Feel the fear and do it anyway, don’t let fear stop you from getting what you want, and if you let fear win, then you lose,’ are common declarations designed to help us avoid being dominated by FEAR. Because our FEAR is often related to as so limiting, meddlesome, and something to eradicate, we can miss the unseen opportunity to engage more powerfully and collaboratively with it.

Beyond working with the FEAR you know about, your conscious mind tries to cope and manage unconsicous FEAR by using a myriad of tricks to keep you from realizing it’s actually AT PLAY. We’ll expose the profound nature of FEAR and then discern ways to put it to work in helping you evolve and grow.

Higher Ego Flexibility and Difficulty Dealing with Adversity

This week on It’s Your Ego—Stupid!, Dr. Nick will be looking intensely into the mirror of our ability to deal with the adversity that we are all confronted with owing to the imperfection of our humanity. These include the various failures, losses, and mistakes we are all called upon to manage, from time to time. Life success is often a function of how well we get up and learn from them after having been knocked down by them. During the show I’ll be looking at symptoms, reflections of ego stupidity, and the impact on spiritual wellness which occurs when a person is being affected by higher ego flexibility energy in their encounters with adversity. I’ll also be looking at specific ego insights needed to transform higher ego flexibility into a healthier and more balanced place.

Unfortunately, for those with higher ego flexibility they often take a very flexible approach in which they listen too much to others and too little to themselves, in their efforts to deal with problems. This places them at risk of listening to the wrong people, at the wrong times, who can be giving them bad information. Even if these people or resources (beware of the Internet) have good intentions and are trying to be helpful. This often serves to weaken their grasp of the causes that contributed to the difficulty and the solutions that can serve them best in managing it. Roles they may find their way into living, until they awaken to their ego energy, include the Adult Child and the Puppet.

“Domination isn’t a race issue. It’s a human race issue.” — Swami Beyondananda

In the wake of the “woke” culture and Black Lives Matter movement, there has been much focus on white privilege, and how the lives of privileged white people differ radically from those of people of color. While all this is undoubtedly true, and those people continue to suffer “micro-aggressions” from unconscious white folks, it’s the MACRO-AGGRESSION that nobody wants to talk about.

That macro-aggression is the dominator meme that we conveniently mistaken for “the way things are” that impacts us all, reflecting the domination exploitation paradigm that permeates every institution in our society. And while the Doctrine of Discovery stems from the Papal bulls issued in the 15th century giving white conquistadors the right to rape, pillage and massacre non-Christian people, it goes back further than that. In fact, we might look at the Inquisition as the perfect example of “white-on-white” crime. Domination is a fundamental theme of patriarchal religion, as well as secular scientific materialism focused on the 3 M’s: Materialism, Money, and the Machine.

Our guest this week, Native American legal scholar Steven Newcomb, has been with us before. Today, he is here to go deeper into this pervasive paradigm, to help us address three key questions: What’s so? So what? Now what?

Steven Newcomb (Shawnee, Lenape) is one of the world’s leading scholars on the Doctrine of Discovery and Domination, as well as the author of the best-selling book Pagans in the Promised Land: Decoding the Doctrine of Christian Discovery (Fulcrum, 2008). He is a co-producer of the documentary movie, “The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code,” directed and produced by Sheldon Wolfchild (Dakota), with narration by Buffy Sainte-Marie (Cree). In 1992, Newcomb, along with Birgil Kills Straight (Oglala Lakota) founded the Indigenous Law Institute and began a global campaign to call upon the Holy See to revoke the Vatican papal bull of discovery and domination of May 4, 1493.
