Real Sex Education: What It Is and How To Do It with Karen Rayne, PhD
Dr. Rayne provides sexuality education to people of all ages, writes sex ed curriculum, and trains sexuality educators in the US and around the world. She believes that comprehensive sexuality education is a basic human right because knowing about the body you live in is the first step to personal autonomy. She will discuss how to make this large goal actionable, both in the home and in group environments.
About the Guest: Dr. Karen Rayne
Dr. Karen Rayne has been working in education for the past two decades with an expertise in sexuality education. She has her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from UT Austin, where she focused on ethics education and the choices that adolescent mothers make. Dr. Rayne founded Unhushed in order to open conversations about sexuality in the home. Dr. Rayne works locally with many private schools, nationally with the American Journal of Sexuality Education and The Center for Sex Education, and internationally with the UNFPA. Her books include Breaking the Hush Factor: Ten Rules for Talking with Teenagers about Sex and the upcoming GIRL: Love, Sex, Romance, and Being You. Dr. Rayne is passionate about providing comprehensive sexuality education to people of all ages and stages with sensitivity and a touch of humor.
