Stacey Aaronson – Raising, and Losing, My Remarkable Teenage Mother
Aired Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM EST
When Stacey Aaronson was born, her mother, Bree, was sixteen and barely out of braces. Hastily wed to Stacey’s dad and divorced soon after, Bree raised Stacey with his and her parents’ loving support. Growing up together in an often role-reversal scenario and mistaken for sisters, Bree would come to say, “I didn’t raise Stacey. Stacey raised me.”
Stacey Aronson joins me this week on Vox Novus to share her story that has been called the “The Extraordinary Journey of a Mother-Daughter Duo Reminiscent of Gilmore Girls.” Stacey Aaronson relishes finding awe in everyday miracles and embracing self-reinvention. Thanks to self-taught graphic design skills and a heaping spoonful of Universal magic, in 2011―after twenty years in retail leadership roles―she began designing books for authors. Today, Stacey is an established writer, ghostwriter, editor, book designer, and publishing partner who has been involved in the full or partial production of over two hundred books. She delights in working with authors of multiple genres within her business, The Book Doctor Is In, and as a layout artist for She Writes Press. She lives with her soul mate, Dana, on Whidbey Island in Washington state with their Maine Coon Kitty and the scads of birds, deer, and squirrels that roam their property. Her website is https://www.staceyaaronson.com/ and she joins me this week to share her heart-warming story and new book, Raising, and Losing, My Remarkable Teenage Mother.

Dr. Steven Eisenberg – Love Is the Strongest Medicine
Aired Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM EST
Between 1995 and her transition in 1998, I supported and loved my late partner, Judi, through her challenge with cancer. I would be at her side during rounds of chemotherapy and would lighten her spirit by telling her jokes. Calling on an accumulated repertory of every joke I had ever heard, she would laugh or boo, depending on how good or bad the joke or my delivery was. It made the time in the chemo chair fly by and took her mind away from the daunting experience.
I recently learned of an amazing oncologist who uses song to do the same for his patients. My guest this week on Vox Novus, Dr. Steven Eisenberg, is known as “The Singing Oncologist.” Every day, Dr. Steven helps patients fight cancer using both time-tested conventional therapies and innovative medical technologies. At the same time, he helps them overcome negative emotions by cultivating acceptance, love, and self-compassion in a deeply personal way, through laughter, empathy, and the music he plays and sings for and with them. Dr. Steven Eisenberg is a triple-board-certified physician in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology. He earned his undergrad degree at Penn State and a D.O. at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine before completing a three-year medical oncology and hematology fellowship at Georgetown University’s Vincent T. Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research publications include articles on novel therapies for cancer, and his special interests are breast cancer treatment, cancer prevention, patient engagement, and new health care technologies. Dr. Eisenberg is the co-founder of cCARE, California’s largest medical oncology practice. He serves as the practice’s Medical Director of Integrative Oncology, as well as its unofficial CEO (Chief Empathy Officer). He is also co-founder of Workup, Inc., a collaboration platform for health care teams. His work has been featured on NBC’s TODAY as well as in People magazine, Huffington Post, US News & World Report, Reader’s Digest, and many other publications. He is the host of The Dr. Steven Show and podcast. His website is https://drsteven.com/ and he joins me to share his path, his compassionate approach and his new book, Love Is the Strongest Medicine: Notes from a Cancer Doctor on Connection, Creativity, and Compassion.

Rabbi Tuvia Teldon – Eight Paths of Purpose
Aired Thursday, May 13, 2021, at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM EST
I’ve shared on this and other programs a teaching I received when I enrolled in The New Seminary of New York in 1997. It was the first interfaith seminary, founded by my late mentor, teacher, and friend, Rabbi Joseph Gelberman, as well as thought leaders and teachers from many different faiths. Rabbi Gelberman shared with us a Hebrew expression, HaKol Beseder. Literally translated, it means everything is in order. But his sharing was that it had a greater meaning; that everything was unfolding in Divine Order. He shared that events may take place that we may not understand, that may be painful and challenge our respective faiths, but that ultimately, there is a higher purpose at work. They key concept is purpose.
My guest this week on Vox Novus, Rabbi Tuvia Teldon, searched for this purpose after the tragic loss of his first son. In his quest, he found meaning and purpose in all of life’s challenges and circumstances.
Rabbi Teldon grew up in Staten Island, New York and graduated high school in St. Louis, Missouri. He received his rabbinical ordination from the Central Chabad Rabbinical College in Brooklyn soon after marrying Chaya Leet, who hails from Detroit, Michigan. They moved to Long Island in 1977 to establish the regional headquarters for the International Chabad-Lubavitch Movement and help build the Jewish community. Rabbi Teldon now serves as the executive director for the 34 Chabad centers in Long Island, with a staff of 54 full-time rabbis and their wives. He is also rabbi emeritus of the Chabad Jewish Center of Mid-Suffolk and a former member of the East Long Island cabinet for UJA-Federation. He serves on a number of international committees for the worldwide Lubavitch Movement in Brooklyn. He also hosts a weekly interview show on Altice Cable throughout Long Island. He and his wife, Chaya, a well-known global speaker on Jewish topics and a one-time special guest on The Oprah Show, live in Commack, Long Island. Their family now includes five adult children, their spouses, and a growing tree of grandchildren. His website is https://www.eightpathsofpurpose.com/ and he joins me this week to share his path and his book, Eight Paths of Purpose.

Diane Millis – Re-Creating A Live
Aired Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM EST
“If you light a lamp for someone else, it will also brighten your own path.” These words have been attributed to Buddha, but the actual source is unknown. The truth in the statement is self-evident. May this same wisdom be applied to the words we share with others. Is the act of sharing our most life-giving stories with others not only illuminating for them, but also for us?
My guest this week on Vox Novus, Diane Millis, says that there is power in sharing our most life-giving stories. Diane holds a B.A. and M.A. in Communication Studies and a Ph.D. in Family Studies from the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota. Since completing her doctorate, she has studied theology and trained in spiritual direction, retreat direction, and the practice of interfaith dialogue. Diane has taught at a number of schools including the University of Minnesota, College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University, and Saint Catherine University. She currently teaches at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.
She is the founder of Companions on a Journey at the College of Saint Benedict, funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc., and the Journey Conversations Project. She served as host and producer of Lives Explored for the Collegeville Institute. Diane has also served as a coach and consultant for the Lilly Endowment, Inc., working with leadership teams at colleges, universities, and theological schools throughout the United States. Her website is https://www.dianemillis.com/ and she joins me this week to share her path and her book, Re-Creating A Live: Learning How to Tell Our Most Life-Giving Story.

Mark Johnson – Life as Play
Aired Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM EST
In my mid-thirties, something interesting happened. An inadvertent transformation took place when I started studying yoga to relieve a back issue. In the joy of this new learning and the friendships that ensued, a series of synchronicities blessed my life. Each new opportunity to engage and share this energy with others was healing on so many levels and reopened a sense of joy and wonder that I had put aside in my teens.
My guest this week on Vox Novus, Mark Johnson, took a six-decade-long global spiritual journey, that culminated with his new book, and initiation into a Life of Play. Mark encourages us to take the plunge into the unknown and mystery of our lives where every action becomes an effortless, appropriate response to whatever life brings us. Mark Johnson is a semi-retired Tai Ji and Chi Gung instructor and healer. He continues to judge Tai Ji tournaments regularly, serves on the Advisory Council to the National Qigong Association, and leads Daoist retreats to China and Tibet yearly. Mark has studied and practiced Eastern Philosophy for more than 45 years and has apprenticed with some of the most prominent Vedanta, Zen and Daoist teachers in the world. He has been a member and research subject at the Institute of Noetic Sciences for nearly 15 years. His best-selling Tai Chi for Seniors video and other instructional DVDs are available through his online company. His websites include https://daopublishing.com/ and https://taichiforseniorsvideo.com/, and he joins me this week to share his path and his new book, Life as Play.

Imagine a therapist writing a prescription for “Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night” by Dylan Thomas or “Hope Is the Thing With Feathers” by Emily Dickinson or a Shakespeare sonnet—as well as prescribing an anxiety medication. Might poetry be a vaccine for the emotions?
My guest this week on Vox Novus, Dr. Norman E. Rosenthal, is that therapist! World-renowned for his research on seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and pioneering the light therapy to treat it, Dr. Rosenthal says that poetry is potent medicine. He has researched other innovative psychiatric treatments and is the author of several books including the New York Times bestseller Transcendence: Healing and Transformation through Transcendental Meditation and the national bestseller Super Mind. Diana Cole – Spirit Translator: Seven Truths for Creating Well-Being and Connecting with Spirit
Aired Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM EST
The Moody Blues 1981 album, “Long Distance Voyager”, featured a song by Justin Hayward entitled, “The Voice.” The lyric said in part:
“Make a promise, take a vow.
And trust your feelings, it’s easy now.
Understand The Voice within.
And feel a change, already beginning.”
Is that inner voice something that we all may connect with and hear for guidance and healing?
My guest this week on Vox Novus, Diana Cole, says yes! Diana Cole is a spirit translator, thought leader, fitness guru, and emerging author. She is committed to teaching people how to find freedom from pain and limitation, and live a life of abundance, fun, and inspiration. She is coauthor of Pillars of Success with Jack Canfield. Aired Thursday, April 8, 2021, at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM EST
Are spirituality and sexuality mutually exclusive? Both are our birthright as human beings. Both are also fraught with mixed messages that may have left us with a sense of shame, guilt, or fear rather than celebration.
My guests this week on Vox Novus, Vic Compher and Rodney Whittenberg, have created a documentary film that addresses these important questions. Vic Compher is a filmmaker, licensed clinical social worker, workshop trainer, and author. His most recent film is “Portraits of Professional CAREgivers: Their Passion. Their Pain,” which addresses secondary trauma and staff resiliency. The film has been broadcast widely on American Public Television, screened at many public and professional venues around the country, including various national and regional conferences, and many workshops. Rodney Whittenberg is an Emmy Award-winning modern “renaissance man.” His interests and professional endeavors are broad ranging from full-length film production to music composition. He is fascinated by discovering what makes things tick and how to creatively intersect with them, whether it is the inner vision of his clients or new ways to use the latest technical advances. They join me this week to discuss their film, “Angels and Saints: Eros and Awe.”

When I was blessed to be a member of Paranormal-NYC and a guest with other New York based paranormal teams, one of the abilities I brought with me was to assist disembodied souls, with their permission, to cross over. There was a wonderful sense of peace that followed and the knowledge that these spirits were now home and at peace.
My guest this week on Vox Novus, Natalie Fowler, also was blessed with this gift and shares these experiences in her book, The Spirit’s Way Home: Inspiring Stories from a Psychic Medium. Natalie Fowler is an author, freelance editor, paranormal investigator, and psychic medium. Natalie teaches classes and workshops and leads writing retreats and destination events on a regular basis. Her website is https://nataliefowler.com/ and she joins us this week to share her path and her book, The Spirit’s Way Home.
