Dr. Fred Nour, M.D. - True Love: How to Use Science to Understand Love
Lyricist Paul Francis Webster penned the popular classic, “Love is a Many Splendored Thing.” Elizabeth Barret Browning’s Sonnet 43 asked, “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.” Mick Jagger sang, “Love is a Bitch.” Poetry, music, literature and the arts have extolled the ups and downs of love since humanity first began to express its feelings about the topic. But perhaps the Bard himself, William Shakespeare, came closest to the truth when he said, “Love looks not with the eyes but with the mind and therefore is wing’d cupid painted blind.” What is the true connection between the mind, or more specifically the brain and love? Does modern neuroscience have answers to the story and the glory of love?
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Dr. Fred Nour, M.D., says there is exacting science behind love and that awareness of how this works can lead to true and lasting love. Dr. Nour is a nationally and internationally renowned neurologist who is certified in both neurology and neurophysiology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of London. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, The Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics, the American Academy of Neurology and many others. He was named one of America’s Top Doctors six times as well as many other awards. He joins me this week to share his new book, True Love: How to Use Science to Understand Love.

Diane Brandon - Born Aware
When I was a child growing up in the 1950’s, I displayed unusual awareness, knowledge and abilities. I was given labels like “gifted” and “precocious” by teachers and counselors…labels that made me feel awkward and different and often alone. I found friendship with other kids who also possessed these attributes and we collectively seemed to have been born with knowledge and gifts that were not connected to our postnatal life experience but were sourced before being born into this lifetime. How was and is this possible? Do pre-birth memories exist?
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Diane Brandon, also has been spiritually aware since birth. Diane has had a lifelong interest in metaphysics, and has studied it for more than 45 years. She has been a member of Intelligentsia Metaphysica, Mensa, and the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Diane has been working professionally as an Integrative Intuitive Counselor since 1992. She’s an expert on Intuition, having researched its inner workings, and has taught it extensively in classes, workshops, seminars, private lessons, and Continuing Education at both Duke University and University of Memphis, in addition to teaching it in Corporate Seminars. She also specializes in Dream Interpretation and Dreamwork and teaches Wellness Classes on Sleep & Dreams and Stress Relief via Guided Meditation.
She’s the author of Dream Interpretation for Beginners, Intuition for Beginners, and Invisible Blueprints and joins me this week to discuss her just published new book, Born Aware – Stories & Insights from Those Spiritually Aware Since Birth.

Byron Belitsos - Your Evolving Soul
Who are we? How did we get here? Where are we going? Can there be a future in a world that at the present appears so divided and conflicted. Is there a glimmer of hope that the human spirit or soul can evolve and connect with the spirit found in all religions and faith—love? If you think about it, these questions that seem to describe the here and now could have been asked any time in the last 3000 or more years. My guest this evening on Destination Unlimited, Byron Belitsos, says the answer to these questions and more are found within what is known as the Urantia Revelation and that yes, there is hope!
Byron is a multiple award-winning author and book publisher, and also an editor and educator. After founding Origin Press (OriginPress.org) in 1996, he has worked with numerous leading authors including Peter Russell, Ralph Metzner, Jim Marrs, Charles Tart, James O’Dea, Timothy Wyllie, Anodea Judith, and Barbara Marx Hubbard. Byron is also known as a leading expert on The Urantia Book, and has written, spoken, and given workshops widely on its teachings, including appearances on Gaiam TV and Coast-to-Coast AM Radio with George Noory. He has coauthored or edited five books about the Urantia Revelation, including The Adventure of Being Human II (2013), Healing a Broken World, and The Adventure of Being Human (2011). He joins me to discuss his new book, Your Evolving Soul: The Cosmic Spirituality of the Urantia Revelation.

Sigmund Freud said, “Time spent with cats is never wasted.” Albert Schweitzer said, “There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life, music and cats.” The French poet and philosopher, Anatole France, said, “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawaken.” The mutual healing relationship between humans and their animal companions is an age old story, but my guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Shawn Flynn, tells this story anew from the perspective of a modern career professional and how his life was forever changed by a beautiful Maine Coon cat named, “Kitty.”
Shawn spent more than twenty-five years in a market-research career before he stepped away to pursue his passion for writing. He knew he wanted to explore his deep connection with cats, particularly the first cat he ever rescued. Shawn and his girlfriend, Carrie, live in Enfield, Connecticut, where he takes care of several indoor and outdoor cats. He also volunteers with the local cat rescue group, Enfield Community Cat Project, and was recently designated as the group’s marketing representative. Dr. Rachel Harris - Listening to Ayahuasca
People on the seeker’s path from time immemorial have sought answers to the mysteries of life, life afterlife, our world and the universe. The mystic’s goal has been that ultimate awakening, understanding and connection….being one with everything. Many tools and methods have been used for attaining this goal including meditation, ceremonial magic and the natural pharmacopoeia that grows from our earth. Western experiments with psychedelic substances began in the 1940’s and by the time the late 60’s arrived, they were outlawed and classified as dangerous drugs. Yet evidence suggests that many of these substances, when used properly and in combination with traditional therapies can help to allay and sometimes cure depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and even addictions.
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Psychotherapist Dr. Rachel Harris, has done extensive scientific and personal research into ayahuasca, a psychedelic tea used in ceremonies by indigenous peoples in the Amazon rain forest. Dr. Harris has been in private practice for 35 years. She received a National Institutes of Health New Investigator’s Award, has published more than forty scientific studies in peer-reviewed journals, and has worked as a psychological consultant to Fortune 500 companies and the United Nations. She shares her findings and personal experience with ayahuasca in the fascinating new book, Listening to Ayahuasca: New Hope for Depression, Addiction, PTSD and Anxiety.

Lisa Smartt - Words at the Threshold
Many of us have had the experience of a loved one share their thoughts as they approached transition. Some of what they share may be nostalgic, reminiscing about years gone by or practical concerning their wishes for final arrangements and unfinished business. Often though, the words shared may be quite different from the way the person communicated before approaching the end, reflecting a marked change in spirituality and an almost etheric approach to the new journey they were about to embark on.
My guest his week on Destination Unlimited, Lisa Smartt, experienced this personally with her father during the last three weeks of his life and it inspired her to establish the Final Words Project with world-renowned afterlife expert, Dr. Raymond Moody. Lisa is a linguist, educator, and poet. She co-facilitates workshops about language and consciousness with Raymond Moody at universities, hospices, and conferences and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Virginia Bell - Midlife is Not a Crisis
Pete Seeger’s classic song, “Turn, Turn, Turn”, based upon the first eight verses of the third chapter of the biblical Book of Ecclesiastes says….
“To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time to every purpose, under heaven”
How is our life affected by the energy of the turns and returns of the heavenly bodies in our solar system, the stars and beyond? How do the seasons of our life afford us the opportunity for learning, growth and wisdom? And how can our understanding of this enable us through youth, middle age and the golden years without experiencing the misnamed “midlife crisis?”
My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Virginia Bell, says the secret to this is to understand the great generational cycles of our life to be better prepared for both the challenges and rewards. Virginia has been a full time astrologer since the 1990’s. She writes a horoscope column and celebrity profiles for the CBS magazine, Watch! She’s a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and has written astrology columns for magazines including TV Guide and Us Weekly. Virginia has her sun and moon in Taurus and Virgo rising…and joins us to discuss her new book, Midlife is Not a Crisis: Using Astrology to Thrive in the Second Half of Life.
