Andrew Appel – Collective Online Healing

In the late 1980’s, I participated in a series of wonderful retreats at a Zen Monastery in upstate New York. We were a collection of dear friends, yoga teachers and seekers, coming together for a common experience of practice, meditation and compassion. At one of those retreats, a poem came through me reflecting the experience. The poem was called, “The Power of One.” It said,

The energy flows from the love of the sun and charges a soul
The Power of One
That energy shared with a spirit that’s new, a heart opens up
The Power of Two
Ebbing and flowing from women to men, hearts on the wavelength
The Power of Ten
And when all of the millions with compassion run
The birth of the new mind
The power of one.

Is it possible to find that collaborative, shared energy and compassion in a world that needs it more than ever? I recently was invited to join a wonderful on-line group called Collective Online Healing. Collective Online Healing is not about any one person. It is about all of us working together to create something new, but it had to be started by someone. My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Andrew Appel, has been studying the potential of various healing modalities since 1994, and has worked with thousands of people, and many gifted healers from around the world during this time. He has been particularly interested in large group healing for the past seven years, and to date has also hosted more than one hundred fifty in-person group healing events in New York City. At this time of physical separation, he founded and created Collective Online Healing and the Collective Online Healing Facebook group. He joins me this week to discuss this wonderful effort.

Glenn Aparicio Parry – Original Politics

As I’ve shared on Destination Unlimited before, I was a child of the 1950’s and a product of the dramatic cultural changes of the 60’s and 70’s. Our generation had a vision of hope where all people would share in the dream and the promise of America with equality, humanity and compassion. Somewhere along the way, our vision blurred, our efforts lost focus, the dream turned into a nightmare and the promise was unfulfilled. Now we see bitter political partisanship, heated clashes over immigration, the climate crisis, income inequality, sexism, racism and gun violence. Our country was plagued with these problems long before COVID-19 hit. Is the United States headed for a second Civil War? Is our democracy facing the threat of extinction?

My guest this week on Destination Unlimited, Glenn Aparicio Parry, sees the current state of turmoil, not as a harbinger of doom but as a sign of our potential for renewal. He foresees a political evolution that ultimately returns America to wholeness through our true sacred purpose: unity in diversity. Glenn Aparicio Parry is a writer, educational consultant, international speaker, and entrepreneur with a vision to reform thinking and education into a coherent, cohesive whole. From 1999-2011, he organized and participated in the groundbreaking Language of Spirit Conferences, bringing together Native and Western scientists in dialogue. Dr. Shelley Kaehr – Past Lives with Pets

In the fall of 2005, we ventured out to find an animal companion for our son, Alex, who had just turned 14 and was ready for the responsibility. We visited several shelters with the understanding that we might not find the “perfect” dog the first time. We arrived at the Little Shelter in Northport, Long Island, our final stop for the day and I dropped Alex and his mom off and parked the car. When I entered the office, Alex was on the floor with this large white and maroon spotted dog licking his face as if they were old friends. It turned out this Catahoula-Pointer mix had just been dropped off by prior adopters who said she could not get along with their existing dog. After a long and thoughtful discussion, we adopted her. While thinking about a name for her, it occurred to me that she kissed Alex as soon as they met and it seemed predestined that we arrived at just the right time. Kissed, met and fate….we named her Kismet, the Arabic word for fate. Was this amazingly chance encounter really predestined? Was it fate? Is it possible that our immediate bonding with her was predicated on our all being together in a previous lifetime?

In 1975, I was in the US Air Force and stationed in Seoul, Korea. One morning, the thought crossed my mind that something was wrong with my mother back in New York. I called her and asked what was going on and my sister, who simultaneously picked up an extension phone, exclaimed, “How did he find out?” My mother was scheduled for major surgery the following day and never told me because she did not want to upset me. My response to her was that I sensed all would be fine and it was. Separated by more than 6800 miles, how was it possible that I knew what was transpiring? Stephanie Snow – Healing

In 1980, the Alan Parsons Project released an album called “The Turn of a Friendly Card.” The title track, with lyrics by Parsons and Eric Woolfson, said,
